Ritual Ambient

http://www.last.fm/music/Hexentanz

Ashburn, Virginia, USA (2002 – present)

Hexentanz is a group from Ashburn, Virginia, USA.

Cain, the Devil in Flesh, stands horned and holding the Trident of Shaitan, summoning his children by the backwards dance of ecstasy. Primal drums and the howling of witches bring each to celebration, passion, and sexual copulation, as the secret gathering of the wise commences.

Hexentanz (literally “the witches dance”) is a collaborative conception between members of The Soil Bleeds Black and Psychonaut 75, venturing to recognize the traditional Witches Sabbath as a reality in the flesh.

http://www.last.fm/music/Aghast
Aghast was a dark ambient project by Nebelhexë aka Andréa Nebel and Nacht aka Tania Stene. They released one album in 1994 on Cold Meat Industry “Hexerei Im Zwielicht Der Finsternis”. This obscure, ghostly and semi-Satanic album made quite an impact at the time. Aghast created haunting, howling and sinister sounds, that managed to freak out even experienced horror movie fans and even Hollywood actors, such as Megan Fox, who reported that the music made them turn on the light and look under the bed.

Vienna, Austria (1984 – 1987)

Zero Kama was a project from Vienna, Austria, formed in 1984 by Michael DeWitt (owner of Nekrophile Rekords). The album “The Secret Eye Of L.A.Y.L.A.H.” is one of the earliest and most influential releases. The music on this recording was exclusively played with homemade instruments made of human skulls and bones.

Before Zero Kama, DeWitt was involved with the project Korpses Katatonik, playing music.

Finland (2005 – present)

Arktau Eos is a duo from Finland, comprised of Anti Ittna Haapapuro (also of Aeoga, Arktau Aon, Aural Holograms, Dolorian, Halo Manash, I.Corax) and Antti Litmanen (also of Arktau Aon and Babylon Whores).

From their pages: “Born out of the vision of its creators in early 2005, Arktau Eos has become a sentient frame capable of capturing fleeting moments of oneiric activity, where essential gnosis manifests itself in blazing hieroglyphs… It is a ghastly and wondrous parade of cryptic images and sounds, which a given recording is a reflection of, thus becoming a new gateway for the perceptive listener.

http://www.last.fm/music/Herbst9

Leipzig, Germany (1997 – present)

Herbst9 is a project from Leipzig, Germany, founded in the Summer of 1997 by Henry Emich and Frank Merten, who are also behind the industrial project Land:Fire.

“H9’s music is the darkness from the deep and hidden places of the world made substantial, the inhalations and exhalations of the very earth beneath our feet, and the steam and bile of nature’s eruptions;”.

Voice of Eye formed in 1991 out of the ashes of experimental bands Esoterica Landscapes 7 and Cruor. Through Voice of Eye, members McNairn and Wilson explore profound aspects of consciousness as the music is shared as a tool for entering different states of being. “The motivation behind forming Voice of Eye was for us to connect to a deeper truth we first sensed within our music,” explains Wilson. “This unformed presence first revealed itself to us through music and has continued to manifest, taking shape throughout our life’s journeys and leading to profound mystery.”

Trondheim, Norway (1999 – present)

Svartsinn (Jan Roger Pettersen) is an artist from Trondheim, Norway. He creates music of the dark ambient nature and has since 1999. Over the years Svartsinn has made five full albums. The debut was released via Eibon Records in Italy and then three following ones via Cyclic Law in Canada and a split release with Northaunt via Loki/PAS in 2014. His recordings also appear in several compilations, movies, documentaries, and theatre plays. In addition to recordings, Svartsinn has often performed live.

Moscow, Russian Federation (2003 – present)

Phurpa is a Russian group that performs music using instruments and regalia related to rituals of the ancient Bon religion, one of the predecessors of Buddhism.

This voyage began in the middle of the 1990s in Moscow, Russia, when a group of artists and musicians led by Alexey Tegin and based at the legendary Fabrique of Cardinal Art commenced their studies of traditional ritual music, drifting away from the field of contemporary and music with the intent to delve deeper into the ancient musical cultures of the ancient Egypt, Iran and Tibet.

INTRO : January 2015 would be the 100th birthday of DR. JOHN C. LILLY, one of the true visionaries of 20th-century science. Lilly's life and work at the frontiers of human knowledge embraces the major themes of 20th-century bioscience. In his 86 years, Lilly made significant contributions to psychology, brain research, computer theory, medicine, ethics, dolphinology, and interspecies communication. Of special relevance for this program, Lilly's interest in the nature of human consciousness led him to invent the isolation or floatation tank in the 1950s. Today there are thousands of Floatation Centers around the world.

The floatation tank is a large plastic container filled with 10 inches of warm water and 800 pounds of dissolved Epsom salt. This high-density liquid allows the body to float effortlessly, free for once from the burden of gravity. The water and air are both heated to skin temperature, so one soon loses the sense of the boundaries of the body. With no light and virtually no sound, it encourages a "sensory-reduced" state that promotes deep physical and mental relaxation, and ultimately allows the floater to explore "inner space."

Hmmm. Does that sound familiar? Floating is one of the most common terms used to describe the effect of Ambient music.

Lilly began by investigating what would happen in an environment free of all sensory stimulation, but instead of the brain going to sleep as had been theorized, a whole new world of inner experience opened up. In the early 1960s, Lilly began experiments with LSD, and decided to take the drug in the isolation tank. Through this work, he arrived at a perspective that transcended the conflict between rationality and mysticism, religion and science.

On this transmission of Hearts of Space...a weightless journey in inner space, on a program called FLOATATION.

INTRO : In the depths of winter, movement slows and time expands. Below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, flowing water becomes static crystals, locked and silent. At absolute zero, motion stops.

The sound of winter is low and slow: thick drones punctuated by dark bells and metallic overtones. The chilled air is heavy with water vapor, damping sounds and creating a hushed atmosphere. And when the storms come, the keening of the cold night wind creates an eerie wail.
